when i have to say good bye for a while...

..when you tried to describe how the feeling inside..

.. i said don't be sad, my darling...

i was very honored.

it's the thing that i can give to our beloved country..

it's just a short good bye for a little while.

well... time flew..

and i always love the moment while i sent the letters to you..

though my friends kept teasing me,

because they know how much we love each other.

.. until those black days came...

... did i tell you it's just a little good bye for a little while, darling?

Papermoon is preparing a new project right now!
we will perform our new play, that will be held on December 2011 !
yes! it's a month to go! and we are so excited about it! :D

it will be a very different kind of puppet play from those that we ever made before!
so.. here are the clues:

1. it will be a site specific performance (it won't take any usual theater space)
2. it's VINTAGE theme

3. we'll take you on a journey
4. there will be no ticket box, so you HAVE TO do the reservation! :D
5. for every play, the seats will be suitable for 15 people only!

Iwan effendi, is the Co. Artistic Director of Papermoon Puppet Theatre.

The audience seems never care. They just know how to clap and how to curse.

Human’s life, need the circus time..

For helping people to release the pain and sadness. For having a break after the huge routinity.

To see the beauty of imagination... before facing their real life again.

CIRCUS OF LIFE is our solo exhibition about the working elderly in big cities..

Featuring real narratives based on conversations with elderly people, this puppet and video installation is the result of a few months research and three-day workshop where students developed storyboards that formed the basis for the Papermoon artists’ creation of sets and puppets.

well..well.. like i've told you in this post... that we were in the middle of two awesome projects, and one of them is SIRDUSKARKUS !!
so yeah.. finally we performed SIRDUSKARKUS, world premiere.. in Jakarta !! yeiiy!!
it's wrapped!! :D

SIRDUSKARKUS rocks Kota Tua-Jakarta- a heritage area in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia..on July 16th, 2011 !!

what a precious experience for us..
performed in an open space, had an intimate interaction with the audiences, surrounded with hundreds of people, and shared the love and laughs to every people there!

yeah.. we were so lucky to be part of Festival Wayang Nusantara 2011 , and share the love to all of you, guys!!

hello guys...
do you remember this posting, about some guests visited Papermoon Puppet Theatre on February 2011?

yup.. that was Center Stage team from United States..
they were visiting 6 finalist ensembles from Indonesia, then after a long process, they chose 3 ensembles from Indonesia to do USA tour on 2012.

They just chose 10 ensembles from more than 200 ensembles from different part of the world..

and what a bless...

long time no see!!
WOOOHOOOO.. yeah.. we are in the middle of the crazy busy months!!!
we are facing lots of deadline, and mountainous of fabric and rattans, 17 old fellas puppets, and lots of super exciting projects ahead!!! yeeiiy!!!

Our idea in this project is for dedicating our time to learn about becoming an elderly...
... about learning how old people around us try to survive in the different speed of the city ...

we'll make puppet installation in the 65 metres tunnel of Esplanade, with several videos about the elderly who works.

Gee... this is our very first performing arts fair.. yes, it made us nervous at the first time..
but we had precious moments and wonderful experience!!

long time no see! :D

just want to tell you, that papermoon got a big honor from center stage, USA.
They came to visit our studio and have 1,5 hours chit chat with 8 of MWATHIRIKA team...
in our garden! :D

can you imagine having a wonderful chit chat, with bunch of wonderful new friends, delicious snacks and coffee, under the tree in a perfect weather?!!!!

that's what exactly happened on last saturday!!

MAU APA : India version !!!

We came back from joining an international puppet festival in New Delhi -India!!
woohoo!!!

Yup.. we were invited by Ishara Puppet Theater that was held their 9th International Puppet Festival.
We spent 2 weeks in New Delhi, performed everyday, and saw different puppet performances from different countries, every single night!
what a great treat!!!

"Pakde Bas, a.k.a Uncle Bas" ... the character of MAU APA : Indian version
he is a 70 years old-feels like 40 years old man.
Traveled to India to share what people want in their life...
...the things that money can not buy!

...You can find what you need in his white sack...

We were performing "MAU APA: Indian version" in this festival. MAU APA was an interactive puppet play that was initiated by me and Anna Loewendahl (Australian director - gosh.. she is fantastic!). For the first time we were performing "MAU APA: Yogyakarta version" on 2009.
That time i was performing MAU APA with Yosafat Diaswikarta, and directed by Anna Loewendahl.

Then i did another version of MAU APA in "MAU APA : New York version" on 2010 in several cities of United States of America, such as New York and Washington DC.
That time i was performing together with Ethan Fishbane, an actor studies at NYU.

So this time, bringing the simplest MAU APA's version to India... i was performing alone... and the puppet was made by Iwan Effendi.

Became different with another version, MAU APA : India version just shared 3 important things in people's life. Famous, Happiness, and Love.
and guess what was becoming the number one thing that Indian people want in their life?
became FAMOUS!!! :D
lots of boys and girls chose that one, and they wanted to be a famous movie star, dancer, singer, either a violist.

People only know two kinds of puppetry in Indonesia. The first, which is usually seen on television, is purely dedicated to children’s education while the second goes back to ancient traditions only older people seem to appreciate.

But the Papermoon Puppet Theater of Yogyakarta doesn’t fall into either category. It’s a new type of performance art blending fine arts and theater in one show. Using experimental media, Papermoon reaches out to wider audiences, by not only exploring deep and controversial themes but also portraying problems children and adults face in their everyday life.

Papermoon is the brainchild of Maria “Ria” Tri Sulistyani, a children book illustrator-cum-writer as well as a former theater actress. It was established in 2006 in Yogyakarta as an art space to nurture the younger generation’s interest in the art world.

It was Ria’s love for children and performance art that initially brought her to explore the world of puppetry.

After meeting and holding long discussions with her now husband and artist Iwan Effendi, she decided upon using the medium of puppetry to attract larger audiences.

The Jakarta Post met the couple while they were preparing for a show at the Goethe Institute Jakarta last weekend to find out more about Papermoon’s passion for communicating with larger audiences using a blend of art forms.

Ria explained that the pair experienced an epiphany when attending the Jakarta International Puppetry Festival in 2006.

“One of the puppeteers in the festival performed Shakespeare. That’s when it dawned on me: ‘hey, puppet theater is not only for kids’,” Ria explained.

From then on, Iwan and Ria explored puppetry as an art medium to convey different kinds of messages to larger audiences, infusing it with experimental media and fine arts.

They shocked the public early 2008 with Noda Lelaki di Dada Mona (A Man’s Stain in Mona’s Chest), puppet performance aimed at adults only.

“The audience didn’t foresee that watching a puppet performance would be thought provoking because we tackled serious topics, politic and sex,” Iwan said.

But the show was a success. After that, the couple became addicted to putting together puppet performances for larger audiences.

The couple has enriched their knowledge of puppetry by exchanging notes with puppeteers from all around the world, either welcoming them into their small house-studio in Yogyakarta, or traveling overseas to meet them.

After securing a grant from the Asian Cultural Council, Ria and Iwan went to New York in 2009 to meet more than 70 puppet masters and familiarize themselves with puppetry in the US.

But growing people’s appreciation for puppetry nowadays is not easy, with the art community still undermining the existence of puppet arts.

“It’s really hard. People struggle to make a living. I think almost everywhere people undermine puppetry in arts. People never seem to take it seriously [as a form of art]. They persist in considering it a complementary form of art and always associate it with children,” said Ria.

This hasn’t deterred the couple from pursuing their dream, as both are convinced the art of puppetry is a rich medium with a bright future ahead.

Iwan and Ria have thus decided to continue their endeavor to make puppetry a universal art form that can be used to express any kind of messages. For them, Papermoon occupies a grey area in the world of art as it combines both performance art and fine arts.

Straddling two art forms, however, has given the artists the opportunity to explore arts without limits, Ria explained.

“We can do almost anything without fear of being judged,” said Ria, who was awarded the Empowering Women Artist Award from Kelola, Hivos and Ford Foundation in 2010 and 2011.

Ria and Iwan — who have been married for more than three years — look like the perfect match, frequently completing each other’s sentences during the interview.

In the end, both have gained valuable insights into each other’s art by collaborating in Papermoon.

“When I make an artwork, I try to make stories out of it, while Ria, who is used to developing stories, now pays attention to composition and visual aspects,” says Iwan, who always involves Papermoon in his art exhibitions.

Papermoon may end up being the comfortable house that allows both to grow into brilliant artists and create spectacular art performances.

“Having a performance is like having children. You nurture them in your concept, give birth to them and introduce them to others during performances,” Iwan said.

Iwan and Ria’s latest child is a heartbreaking story called Mwathirika, which delves into one of the darker chapters in Indonesian history where many people were kidnapped and killed in 1965 for allegedly embracing communism.

The good response the performance received from critics and audience has shown the couple has succeeded in introducing a new art concept in Indonesia, which is: Puppetry for all.

what's on PESTA BONEKA #2 ??

hello guys!!! here we meet again!!

yeiy!! we just past the first row of PESTA BONEKA#2. well.. PESTA BONEKA is a biennale puppet festival that was initiated by Papermoon Puppet Theatre (yes.. us!!). on this festival we would love to celebrate how's people using theater figure (including whatever kind of puppets, wayang, objects, masks, etc), and ask more people to enjoy it!

so, last night (december ,14th) we just did the first term of PESTA BONEKA#2 with 4 different performances, and an opening of our exhibition.

this is where we made it!

well.. Yogya was poured by a heavy rain in the afternoon... that made us so worried... but slowly the rain started to stop, then we started to play the first performance just 15 minutes past from the actual time. and hundreds of people were there!!! AMAZING !!!

me and Ki Ledjar Sukasman (all dalangs-traditional puppeteer- in Indonesia always got "Ki" for the man in front of their name, and "Nyi" for the woman, as a respect from people).. the maestro of Wayang Kancil.. he is 73 years old.. and amazing!!! i learned how to make wayang from him!! :D

this is my first time to watch Wayang Beber, and i do love it !!! :D
the way the group performed the play.. is just Amazing!!!

(wayang beber is an ancient form of story telling in Java, it's almost extinct now, and dani is one of artists who tries to re-invented wayang beber in a new form)

Why choose this theme?

Isn’t the ‘dark chapter’ in Indonesia’s history ‘old news’, does it need to be told again?

Perhaps this is so for some people in Indonesia…..

Or perhaps there are even more who don’t want to talk about it, and choose to forget it because they fear it….

But that’s not the way it is for us.

Although hundreds of books and films about this ‘dark chapter’ have been produced, under a cloud of controversy, how many of the young men and women of our archipelago have heard about, watched, or read them?

How many of us want to remember this dark chapter of our history?

For us, it is not about who killed who….

This is about a lost history (and the loss of history) in our lives.

Shouldn’t it be so, that if we know what has happened in the past, then we can understand why we stand here now, and where we want to go in the years to come?

So, this is what actually happen while the daughter of a former Lieutenant Colonel of Indonesian Air Force, and the grandson of dalang (wayang puppet-master) who was a political prisoner for 13 years, -like us- could talk about the dark chapters of history, that are also a part of their family histories….

“MWARTHIRIKA” is a visual performance without words, about that dark history which we tell in an imaginative way, like a fairy tale.

In this performance we use Swahili words for the title and the character’s names, and have created bunraku and kuruma ningyo puppets, which originate from Japan, to perform the story.

Yes, IT’S TRUE!!! We are celebrating the joy of choosing many things from many shelves. We are celebrating the cacaphony of transliterative history (the words of Agung Kurniawan – the process companion) in our work.

Maybe you will know some of the symbols, maybe not.

Don’t worry.

Just enjoy it…..

This is just one of the languages which we can use to tell stories from our history, which enriches us.

hello guys!!

yup.. it's 30 days to MWATHIRIKA...

and our country had several big disasters that happened almost in the same time...
the big floods in Wasior- Papua, tsunami in Mentawai island-Sumatra, few times volcano eruption from Merapi mountain-Yogyakarta (which the ashes reached our studio in the middle of the city too) ...
so sad for this...
see these photos... these are the ashes covered papermoon's area.. which are more or less 30 km from the mountain area.. can you imagine... how about those people who live in merapi mountain ?

anyway... the show must go on...
the time is getting shorter... and still many things to do...
though we still keep planning to do something in the refugee camp, we still have to continue the process of MWATHIRIKA...

here i let you to peep the process ...

this is one of the setting... so excited to see this building a.k.a giant puppet to be built! and now we can see it really exist! yeiiy!! thank you iwan effendi, octo cornelius, anton "grewo" and beni!!!
we still have really long process, guys... but we are in a great track!! YEIY!!

this tricycle is called "BECAK"...
(look at the big smile that the BECAK driver has!!! you are photogenic, sir!! yeiiy!! )

because we don't have a big space to do the rehearsal, so we have to bring some settings and properties to other place for the rehearsal.. and we use BECAk for bringing our stuffs! ohhohoho!!! exciting, isn't it?!!

between these crazy days in the studio for preparing MWATHIRIKA and PESTA BONEKA 2010 , Papermoon was joining the Jogja Java Carnival 2010 on October 16th.

This is a birthday carnival for our beloved city's, Jogja a.k.a Yogyakarta!
woohooo!!!
we walked along Malioboro streets ..
and that was the best part... while the super busy street was closed for vehicle and all people walked on malioboro streets!! yeiiyy!!!

i hope that malioboro do that at least every once in a week...
(let's cross your fingers too, guys)

well...that was a FUN experience, though we didn't have lots of time to be prepared.. (that was the worst thing...)
but still, meeting thousand people on the streets, and making some children cried were the great ways to break your busy days! ahahhahaha!!!
just kidding, guys...but yeah.. several kiddos were crying to see the puppets.. (so sorry little kiddos.. we just tried to smile at you...sniff..)
but just some of them were crying.. and mostly they laughed and hugged the puppets! Hooraayy!!!

hello guys..
ffiiiuh... seems like it's so long for not posting things in this page.. hohoooo!!
life is a bit crazy in PAPERMOON!!!

yes... it's 50 days to MWATHIRIKA... and ...ups.. seems i haven't told you about this, but Papermoon is initiating a puppet festival and exhibition, called PESTA BONEKA#2 that will be held on December... yes.. in the same month with MWATHIRIKA..
yes we are insane...
i know... and we try to face the truth that we were born to be insane.. ;P

well..well...well..
still want to keep you posted on what's going on in MWATHIRIKA's process now..

we are still building many things.. MANY THINGS!!!

still using papier mache, rattan, foam, the almighty glue gun, webbing rope, like usual.. but we try some new techniques.. i mean.. new for us.. :)

we work all day long in our tiny studio...with the well inside... yes.. we have well inside our studio! ;)

and after these long days... fiiuuhh...
still lots of things to do, team!!! :D

(here we are... the citizen of the well's studio... me, iwan, octo and grewo... work work work...)

lots of surprise we got for MWATHIRIKA...
and can't wait to tell you, guys... but i have to be really patient...
i want you to get the best surprise when you watch the performance..
so.. better to keep all the details......

but here i will give you little information of MWATHIRIKA...

MWATHIRIKA will be a non -verbal puppet play.. not for children..
and it is a puppet theater...
yes.. it is a puppet theater..

i just really realized it again this evening while we did the rehearsal...
the puppets really move...
and that's the biggest reason why you have to see the performance... and that's the biggest reason why i do puppet in my life...( i love puppets more and more and more!!)

..oo gosh.. i really do puppet theater!!..
i know it is a bit silly, because i said that while i'm an artistic director of puppet theater ...

...but that's what i really learned today..

ooo.. and one more thing..
we'll dedicated 1 day of our performances (which will be held on 3 days) for deaf friends.. :)

so, please give the information to your friends, families, or anyone you know about it..

long time no see, right?
hmm.. in the future, i will keep giving you our stories about MWATHIRIKA.
what's that?

yes...
here we are!
in the middle of a long process of making our own play!

MWATHIRIKA.. is the tittle of the play.
MWATHIRIKA means "victim" in Swahili's language.
well... it is not a play about any African stories.. we just borrow the word and use it as the tittle of our play.

why do i choose Swahili's words as the tittle, and also as the names of the characters?
because it sounds beautiful, strange, but have meaning.

eeerrhhhh!!! it's really tough, but lots of challenge to do the process... i am so happy on doing this process!! SO HAPPY!! SOOOO EXCITED!!!
this is my first "1 hour" play's script for adults!
and this will be our first play after me and Iwan came back from United States (after the 6-months residency)

me, and Iwan Effendi, the other artistic director of MWATHIRIKA (which also my husband) have been working on this theme since last year...

and these past few months we have been brainstorming, sketching, writing, drawing, reading, watching movie, discussing... sleeping.... day dreaming....

and most of the time we just starring each other... because we have nothing in our brain.

yes.. NOTHING! fiiiuuhhh....
well.. if i have this condition, i always say to myself, that stress is the part of creating things...

mm.. am i right? are you with me?

but, yes it's true, guys.. i really love this process...

I got the grant from Kelola Foundation, Hivos Foundation and Ford Foundation from the Empowering Woman Artists 2010-2011 program, to do this project.
i am so honored to get the chance to be their grantee... because they trust our vision. me and 4 other women artist from the whole archipelagos in Indonesia got the grant! and i am so pleased to be around them...

anyway... i would love to show you what Iwan did these past days..
he did the drawings of the puppets, and the stage design!

can't wait to make the puppets and directly MAKING everything, as soon as possible!
can't wait to see you on december 1-3rd at Lembaga Indonesia Prancis, Yogyakarta.. to watch the play, guys!!!

Papermoon was spending a month in Singapore!

we really had a great time and wonderful experience to do this project!!!
Papermoon puppet theatre joined the Yfest 2010 that was held by Esplanade Theater on the Bay. What a GREAT PROJECT to join!!! Yeiiyy!!!!

Papermoon Puppet Theatre was invited by Esplanade to go to Singapore for a residency project !!!
Ria (artistic director), Iwan (artistic engineer), Octo (puppet builder), Anton'Grewo' (puppet builder), Gea (costume designer) and Yennu (music director) were staying for almost a month in Singapore to facilitate a- 2,5 weeks puppet workshop for youth. Yup... we worked together with 25 students from ITE Tampines from IMD class.

we used garbage as the basic material for making the puppets.

...and all of us did magic to make it into these wonderful puppets!

hohohoho.. no.. not a magic... just use glue gun, duct tape, paint, and tons of FUN!

the students were not coming from theater or art background. Most of them told us that they never performed before! So that was their first experience to perform in front of the audience.
and we kept saying that...

"what we will do is invading Esplanade.. so no worries... because we are strangers!"

and they did it!!! we did it!!!!
after 20 minutes roving performances in 4 different spots ( there were 4 different groups made different act in 4 different spots!!!), we ended up to perform in the forecourt of Esplanade for 15 minutes...

we made a short story about a very rich couple, that had the biggest super mall in the whole world. They sell everything! even president, planet, spaceship and also human being for a pleasure! (sigh...)
all the shopper keep buying things from their super mall. but by buying more, they throw more stuffs too! they don't realize that those garbage they made become a great house for the cockroaches...
so, they have a fighting scene to get rid the cockroaches.. but the nature keep rolling... The big worms family come out to eat everything, and either the money that the rich couple have.

The performance end up with the dancing cockroaches, try to cheer the rich couple up. That money is not the most important in their life, but having lots of dear friends beside you in your saddest time, is the biggest treasure you have...

so...
after 2,5 weeks workshop, and 3 days performance, all were wrapped!

after those long mails, those sweat days, those stings of hot glue gun, those big stress, those meetings until late night, those laughs, those hard works, those silly things that we did together, those hand-knots, and thousands of photos we made, we had to say good bye (for a while)!!!

yup... it was a wonderful experience to work with you, guys...

This will be our first full team to go abroad!!!
Yes.. we were invited by Esplanade Bay Theater, to make workshop and roving performance for 20 youth people in Singapore Youth Festival 2010!

the Workshop will be happen for 2 weeks, and there will be 3 days-performance!
ooo.. will be so much FUN!!
we will use garbage or second hand stuffs to create into big puppets..
and there will be 6 people from PApermoon Puppet Theatre will have fun with Singaporean Youth !!! Yeiiy!!!

The workshop will be happen July 29th-August 12th, 2010
and the performance will be on August 13-15th, 2010 in Esplanade Bay Theater, Singapore

After 6 months artist residency, got a very first snow,and had really different experiences in United States, Ria (Artistic Director of Papermoon Puppet Theatre) and Iwan Effendi (visual Artist and Artistic engineer of Papermoon Puppet Theatre) came back to Yogyakarta,Indonesia in May 2010!

Without waiting any longer, in the 3rd days of coming in Yogyakarta, they just started to do the collaborating work with a wonderful artist couple from French, Remi and Sandrine from Dessacorde theatre company.

In 3 weeks, they were working on building a play " IMAGO" that was created by Dessacorde, and performed in Lembaga Indonesia Prancis ( LIP-Yogyakarta) for 2 days ( May 26-27, 2010).

So, after a bit exhaling, this time... Ria and Iwan would love to share their stories and experience of their trip in United States for the dearest friends of Papermoon Puppet Theatre in Yogyakarta.

It's a collaborating work between Maria Tri Sulistyani (Artistic Director of Papermoon) with Anna Loewendahl (Director of Transvision Arts, Australia) which is having her Asialink Artist Residency Program in Papermoon Puppet Theatre.
"MAU APA ???" is a performance held in the markets, both traditional market and Sunday market.
We made a small research about the stuffs we want "to sell".
Then we decided to sell abstract things, such as "Love, Faith, Power, Long life, Thin, Partner for you son/daughter, Going to Mecca, Health and Money"
The story of the performance is based on the interaction between the puppets and the audience who sits on the "hot seat".

We used Indonesian and Javanese language in the performance.
Yosafat "Jordana" Diaswikarta played Bejo's puppet, a character who was left by his beloved girlfriend, had his shoes shop on a bankrupt condition, and had a bestfriend Bredjel (played by Maria Tri Sulistyani), an old woman, who lost her family because of a very bad disease.

This interactive play was played twice on June 20-21, 2009 in two different markets.
as this performance is a new form of theatre in Indonesia, publics made so many interesting response.

We hope that we can play this role in different places, so we can find many different important things from people who lives in different area.

This is my last project in the end of my residency period in Hooyong Performing Arts Centre, South korea.
After staying for one month, i made 2 projects, they are 5-days puppet play workshop for teenagers in Hanal Alternative School, and a mini performance with 2 Korean actor and actress.
I made the puppet from found objects, and i used garbages as the properties.
I took the story from my impression about Korean daily life...
and also about my feelings during the residency period...

A story about Opa, an old man, sitting on wheelchair, and broken one of his arm….
He stays in a nursery house for old people, and always spends afternoon time in the park, in the same place.
He always brings the box contains all stuffs which have full memories for him.
Those old stuffs bring some connection with people that he meets in the park.
But not all story in life ends with a happy ending…

And either do the story of his life.

those magazines are thick... the tittle is very cozy...the price is quite expensive..
it's for young, elegant, modern woman lives in the city.
several pages are about beauty tips, most of the pages are advertisement about beauty and fashion....
and almost half of the magazines describe sex tips , how you can have sex in many ways!!!

...but not all people think that sex is enough...
and it's including man.

a collaborating work between Papermoon Puppet Theatre-MOCCA-AEWORX

"Promises"is a collaborating work between papermoon and aeworkx and MOCCA, a swing sweet famous band from Bandung. we looooovvvveeeeeeeee their songs so much!!!!

while we did a process of Noda Lelaki di Dada Mona , iwan always played MOCCA's songs on our winamp... and he kept saying that it would be great if someday we could do a collaborating work with MOCCA, based on their imaginary songs!

then one day, we heard from mas ajik, our friend from NLS, said that MOCCA is very interesting to do a collaborating work wih us, after visiting our blog!!!!
we just sooo excited!
so we went to bandung to meet 3 members of the band. then we talked about lots of things, and decided to make one small thing first, to catch is there any chemistry between Papermoon and Mocca for having a big project...

so because of the busy days that we both had at that time, we decided December 2008 as the time to make the video clip.

So, yes... after finished our big PESTA BONEKA#1, Riko (the guitarist and the spoke person of MOCCA), Ryo (the designer of Aeworx), mas budi (Mocca's manager in that period), mas ade(the cameramen) came to Yogyakarta, bring the camera to Yogya, without any script in the hands! hahhaha!! yes...

so, papermoon brought the ideas of bringing the puppets into the real world...

so, no actors, all people in the video just met the puppets without any briefing!!
and that was soooo exciting!
we had to cut lots of great pictures how the puppets met people...
so sad for that, but to see the results after ricardo situmorang did the editing... well guys, it pays! :D

we made this video clip on december 2008 in Yogyakarta.. one day only.. then followed by half day in Bandung...
WELL DONE, guys!!!

wooohoooo!! since we found that this video clip got a great chemistry from both sides, we decided to say that this is the starting point of our collaboration..
until now, we still arrange more projects in the future... (check check the schedule.. fiiuhh!!)
can't wait!!!

yA noS MorimOS....
a puppet performance, collaborating works between Indonesia and Mexico..
about THE DAY OF THE DEATH in Mexico...

something happened before the show....
there was a big wind, very big.... in the north of Jogja...
just few kilometers from our area... then the electricity in the north of jogja was all off !!! three hours before our performances... until the time we planned to play the first session...
so we used two generators, and started to play 1 hour later....
and guess what....
from two performances that we played....
we added one more show!!!!!!
because there were soooooo many people coming for this performance....

so, now.... we want to thank you all for your patience, attendence....
and supports for papermoon puppet theatre...
this is our first time to play three times in one nite!!!!

The third section played in Jagongan Wagen, a monthly event which is held by Bagong Kussudiarjo Foundation, Yogyakarta. This performance told about an old woman sells traditional toys in a festival. we can see her drink a cup of tea too !!!

we'll perform again in october, in traditional market!!!
